Christmas is coming and companies around the world are starting to wind down as the office Christmas party period begins. I am a family man and very much look forward to spending time with my family during this season and especially on Christmas day itself. As a career I run my own speech therapy business and over the last few years have been amazed that I still have e-mails sent to me on Christmas day. I have over the last year caught the writing bug and am just wondering how many people out there will still be writing articles on Christmas day.
Last year on Christmas day I had just finished my Christmas lunch when my mobile phone rang. I looked at my phone but did not recognise the number but still decided to answer the call. A rather irate man from London then enquired as to why I had not replied to his e-mail. He stated that he had sent this e-mail at at nine in the morning and that it was now four in the afternoon. I replied that it was Christmas day and that I do not ever check my e-mails on Christmas day! He did not seem impressed but I have to say I was also less than happy at receiving a call on this particular day as well.
I also have a number of websites and participate in the Google adsense program. Over the Christmas period the earnings from adsense usually become a bit lower but again I was quite astonished about how many impressions my websites had on Christmas day last year.
Maybe the world wide web should also have a day off for Christmas. In reality this would never happen and people would argue the point that why should we not be allowed to surf the net on Christmas day if that it is what we want to do?
I personally think for people who believe in Christmas, there should be no thoughts of work, web promotion or how to make money on Christmas day.
